Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ page). Below, we have tried to answer the most common questions visitors to this our Web site may have. If you find that your question is not answered on this page, please email the webmaster.

What are the requirements for membership?
You must be a practical Catholic male 18 years or older to join the Knights of Columbus.

Is the council looking for new members?
Yes! It is our goal that all eligible catholic families at St. Paul’s Church belong to the Knights of Columbus. We feel the new ideas and energy that come from new members especially helps us to serve the parish to the best of our abilities. We are always welcoming new members so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in learning more.

How do I join and what is the process?
To join the Knights of Columbus you must fill out a green and white Form 100 application for membership which can be found in the pamplet racks in the foyer of St. Paul’s Church on the right just as you walk through the front door. Once the form 100 is filled out you can leave the completed form in the KofC mailbox in the office. Our membership director will contact you to begin the process of joining the Knights of Columbus. A few members of the council will meet with you at the Admissions committee meeting where we will explain a bit about the history of the Knights of Columbus, the workings of the order, and answer any questions you may have. Upon completion of the admissions committee meeting you can attend a First Degree ceremony at which point you become a member of the Knights of Columbus. First Degrees are held at St. Paul’s every other month as well as at several other parishes in the Austin Diocese on a monthly basis.

Who can I talk to further about joining?

You are encouraged to contact our membership director via email if you have any questions or would like to join the council.

What are the annual costs of membership?
Our annual dues are $40. In addition there is a one time $25 initiation fee which is used to purchase a name-tag and cover the costs of admissions materials. As part of your dues you will receive the council newsletter, the quarterly publication from the Texas State Council, and the monthly Columbia Magazine published by the Supreme Council.

What kind of activities does the KofC do?
Charity
is the principle watchword of our order, and our council performs many fundraising activities throughout the year including food sales, an Annual Casino Night, passbook sales, etc. The funds raised from these activities are primarily donated back to the Church either directly or indirectly in the form of Youth Scholarships or Parish Fair support for example. We also strive to have a monthly social activity for members such as a card nights, Monday night football, family picnics and Christmas parties. The funds for these social activities are drawn from our annual membership dues.
